CLSGB Saves Ninja!
Kudos, praise and thanks to the Canon Law Society of Great Britain and Ireland. The Canon Law Society of America was floundering to find a “resolution” to the dilemma it created. CLSA had sent a “cease and desist letter” to the priest who is the webmaster of
He was using its English translation of the Code of Canon Law and the CLSA did not like it. So it had a “cease and desist letter” sent to Ninja Webmaster, Father Paul Hedman. He inquired to obtain a license to continue using it. Many canonists, especially members of the CLSA itself, voiced outrage at the CLSA.
That is when the CLSGB&I swooped in and offered Father Hedman the use of its English translation, with no license fee, no charge, gratis, free, and obviously, pastoral in approach. They quite literally saved the day!
Thirty years ago when I got a home in a small seaside village in Ireland I applied for membership to CLSGB&I. You needed sponsors for that back then and I was blessed enough to have them. I became a member and in the thirty years since, I have missed only one of its annual conferences. (Theirs is the conference not to miss). I have never been prouder of my membership than I am this week. The CLSGB&I stepped up immediately and problem solved. Thank you to Father Frank Bradley (President) and Father Paul Hayward (Editor of the Canon Law Abstracts) for your good sense leading to this solution.
